Worker killed in struck-by

A tree worker died after being pinned under a skirt of dead fronds while pruning a palm February 13, 2023, in Chula Vista, California. Bardomiano Bautista-Perez, 39, was suspended by a line approximately 50 feet up in the palm after being trapped. Firefighters attempting a rescue lowered him to the ground, but he died of his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital, according to a San Diego Union-Tribune report.
