Teen killed when dirt bike collides with tree truck

A 19-year-old operating an off-road vehicle died after colliding with a tree-trimming truck August 23, 2022, in Wilson, New York.

The aerial-lift truck, towing a tree chipper and heading west on Youngstown-Lockport Road, collided with the off-road-style dirt bike being operated in the road. Following the collision, the truck left the road, overturned and came to rest in a ditch. The dirt bike also left the road and came to a rest in the same ditch.

The 19-year-old man operating the dirt bike died at the scene. The 30-year-old driver of the truck was taken to Erie County Medical Center by ambulance for what was described as non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Lockport Union-Sun & Journal e-paper report.

Tree worker killed

A climber and foreman for a line-clearance company was killed on the job on June 2, 2020, in Maryland. The victim was Donald E. “DJ” Walker, Jr., 26, of Lonaconing, Maryland. No details related to the incident were provided in Walker’s obituary in The Cumberland Times-News, and no other published report was found on the incident.
