A man died when he was struck by a tree he was cutting July 7, 2023, in El Cajon, California. Gary Maurice Zing, 59, of El Cajon, was cutting a eucalyptus tree outside his home when it fell and struck him while he was on FaceTime with a relative. When he did not emerge from under the tree, the relative called 911. Zing died at the scene, according to a San Diego Union Tribune report.
