A climber died after he was struck and pinned in a tree by a branch, and his brother was injured in a fall trying to rescue him, January 6, 2024, in North Naples, Florida.
Nelson Tut (Tutputul in some reports), 22, was pinned against a tree when a large branch fell during a gust of wind, according to Naples Daily News and NBC2 news reports. After seeing Nelson unresponsive, Tut’s brother, Norman Tut (Tutputul), climbed the tree and cut branches, attempting to free his brother. But a branch he climbed on broke, and he fell 50 feet to the ground. Norman Tut was taken to the hospital for his injuries and was later released.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring Nelson Tut’s body down from the tree. Both brothers were working for a local landscape company, according to the reports.
